There are two peoples impressed me very much for the past few days. The first is a trainer for a personal development training i attended on Tues and the other one is my colleague in another department. Both of them have a similar point which is they moved around the organisation to different department and they have moved up to the corporate ladder gradually. I fully understand that the exposure is very important for us who wants to advance in our career and i was ambitious once upon a time. Though i wish i can continuous to move up, i have too many constraints. First, i would say that JB does not have too many opportunities and secondly, i am not longer mobile with family commitment. And again, i fully aware that “If there is a will, there is a way”, may be i am just finding excuses for myself.
Actually, my colleague in other department impressed me not because he is rising when he moved around but his social skill when liaising with client. He is so friendly to not only the boss but also the staff. He can discuss serious topics with the boss yet he can jokes with lower level staff. I have thought of my boss’ boss – Mr. D. Some of my colleague does not like him but i admire him. He too, has a very good social skill. When he communicates to client, be it delivering the bad news, courtesy visits, first time visits, i see the professionalism in him. I hope in one day, i can feel free, have full confidence and show my professionalism when talk to my clients be it business matters or personal happenings.

A Famosa Resort
Prior to the Trip
Hubby and I decided to go for a short trip to A Famosa early of the month. As it is a very spontaneous decision, we did very little survey.
Tried to call the Sales Office of A Famosa Resort but failed as there is nobody pick up the call. As time is essence (only 2 days away from our trip), I tried to call Tourism Malaysia office in Malacca to have the hotel contact no. Thumbs up for the officer for their professionalism and friendliness to assist =P.
The reasons for me to call to the resort is just to check on the basic information on the resort i.e. the facilities that they offered, is buffet breakfast included and is the internet booking rate still applicable. The first time when I called, a Malay lady picked up the call. She is so nervous when I spoke English to her (and mind you that my English is not superb) and what she said is just:” Err..ahh…..you hold on.” Then, she just past me to a phone where nobody picks up the call.
When I called 2nd time, the same Malay lady pick up the call and this time she past me to Front Office. When I checked with the FO officer, an Indian lady whether the internet booking rate is similar to walk in rate, she can’t answer me right away either. Again she asked me to wait. While I wait, I can hear some noise here and there and after almost 10 minutes I hold on the phone (yes, I am that patience to wait for 10 min), the phone just been hung up suddenly.
I was so angry and frustrated and I called the resort for 3rd time. This time, another Malay lady picked up the call. When I told her that I want to speak to the Manager On Duty, she is so concern and asked me for a reason. I explained to her my encounter and she transferred my call to FO again instead of the manager. The same Indian lady picked up the call again.
Me: (Angry) What is your name?
FO: Err..err…my name is Mxxxxxi.
Me: Mxxxxi, why u hung up my call just now? Have you got the answer for my questions?
FO: Err…err... I am sorry. I am new. I can’t get you the answer.
Me: I don’t care whether you are new or not. It is not right for you to hung up my call. Don’t you have senior to guide you?
FO: Err..they are all busy.
Me: I am very frustrated with your service. I want to talk to your manager on duty.
FO: I am sorry madam. Can I call you back?
Agree with this poor Indian lady who has been frightened by me. =P And, good enough, she has returned my call within the 15 minutes time limit I set and answered all my questions.
The horrible call experiences made us very disappointed to A Famosa Resort even before we reach there. So, both hubby and I keep on reminding ourselves don’t expect much from this resort.
For A Famosa Resort, please provide training to your staff especially the receptionist. As a receptionist, the staff is representing your hotel, and being the only resort (if exclude condotel, villa), she is representing Malacca and since Malacca is the most popular tourist attraction, she is representing Malaysia. If she is not able to converse at least the basic English, how can she handle the foreigners who talks with their own ascent? With this type of conversation skill and attitude, I am really worried about our country good name.

Nothing prepares you for motherhood. Suddenly you have all this responsibility and there is no room for failure. (Extracted from Women Weekly, Amy Mastura)

Son, you touch my heart..

Single, married and married with child...
Facebook is a IN thing nowadays. Almost everybody has their Facebook to get connect with friends, classmates, schoolmate (know or not so familiar), colleagues and etc etc. From Facebook u can peek into others life so easily if your friends always update their status and photos.
I like to browse through my friends’ page each time i log into the Facebook. Looking at their life are so fantastic, are so much excitement, are so eventful, are so energetic. Those single and available, those married without a child, they travelled around the country and the world, they attended all sort of event, they participated in almost all gathering organised by anybody, they are pursuing their dream by going overseas, for study, for working holiday, for...
With all these, sometimes i feel a little bit down looking at my own life. It is a routine, from Monday to Sunday, without excitement and spice. My freedom is limited being a mother, i can’t go anywhere and anytime i want as need to think about the baby. (Hubby is good enough and gives me lots of freedom. Sometimes it is just that my own natural feeling of responsible that can’t let me go out freely without the feeling og guiltiness)
My ability to attend all the gatherings and parties also limited caused i have married to Johor – a state which is 400km away from my home town –KL. Whenever i have chance to go home, be it long or short holiday, family members will always expect me to spend my time with them, and again, the feeling of guiltiness arise again if i go out with friends.
Because of all these GUILTINESS and because i am not a good social butterfly, i have lost touch with so many friends.
I am now just an ordinary woman who sometimes feels satisfy (sometimes not) looking at the growing son and a very good husband.

My Cambodia Maid
My replacement maid finally arrived on Friday. She is quite young (22 years old) and good looking. For the past two days, though she did thing quite slow but thorough enough. The most important thing is my son and in-laws like her. Though both of us are like chicken and duck talking..everything go on quite smoothly cause i am not too particular and demanding. My principal is: As long as she did whatever i ask her to do and able to do it OK, then, i am OK.
Tonight, my son is quite naughty and very hard to put him to sleep. As i am yet to pass my clothes for the maid to soak (for tomorrow washing), i carried the baby and went to the maid’s room. When we approaching her room, we heard that she is sobbing. She told me that she miss her mother in Cambodia and one of her sisters also work in Malaysia. Ask her whether she want to send a letter back home, she can’t get what i mean. My heart feels a pinch. I am trying to comfort her but not sure how much she can understand me.
With this incidence, i have thought about all maids who work in a foreign land. Though some of them are dumb, some of them can’t live up to the employers’ mark and some of them really bad (with ill intention), may be they all worth for our pitiness. They all travelled so far from their home country just to earn some money so that the family members can have a better life. Why can’t we lower our standard and treat them a little bit better?

My Two Cents
On Bad Habits, i.e. bad temper
Do not find excuses for our shortcomings. We change and improve ourselves not because our partner wants or expects us to do so but it is US, OURSELVES want to do it. And, when it is your WANT, you will be more determine and will not feel so dreadful or like being forced by others. If u are determined to drop bad temper u will find all ways to control yourself (and i definitely knows that say is easier than done as my temper is bad also). One way u can try is when u feel u want to explode already, (I am trying this way now also.)
Love is sharing be it good or bad, sweet or bitter.
Some questions to you: Why do you date her? What is your opinion on her? When you are together with her, did u have any plan? Did u have any vision on both of your future? Did u share with her?
She is an adult (believe it or not? She is 23 years old now) and need to be treated as an adult. As she always has been treated like a child by all of us (mum and all sisters), i think deep in her heart, she hopes her BF treats her as an adult and let her feel she is useful and important and can be a pillar for you to rely on when you need her.
It is a correct way for not to let the elderly, like parents, sisters and brothers to worry about us but this does not apply to our partner. For a healthy relationship, it needs to be “laugh and cry together, share the fruits and bear the risks together, enjoy the good times and suffer the bad times together” and most importantly “learn and grow together”.
To me, sharing a problem does not necessary mean will burden your partner if you can give them confidence and assurance that you can manage it. Sharing thoughts and idea is also a way to reflect our respect to our partner.
To love someone, you need to love yourself first.
This is cruel but true. I learnt this in hard way from san jie fu. Get yourself back in shape first, please. Live on, move on, with or without her. Don’t attempt to win back love by earning her sympathy. This will not last long and you may feel revengeful to her in future. Focus on your career for the moment and try to show your improvement to her over time – may be turn to her as a friend first if this is an easier way to approach her. Since both of you have given this relationship a chance before, if it does not work out now, you shall move on. This may not a tragedy but an opportunity for you.
Lastly, a question for you to really think on, are you certain that she is the ONE for you?
A relationship will not always be a smooth sailing trip, it needs to go through thunderstorm and rough waves to make it stronger and for you to really appreciate it.

Fortunate or Unfortunate?
Looking at all the cute babies photos that sent by friend, I can’t put a smile on my face as I am thinking about those babies with abnormalities that showed on the Octo (a Singapore TV Channel programme). I have only watched for 3 episodes but it give me a really big impact. I have think about the triplet in US who were borned in their 24 weeks. They are blind and deaf. I respect the mother and mother’s boyfriend, who have support the mother all these years. (The biological father has gone nowhere.) Then, the second family with a daughter who has never grown up, despite already 16 years old, the young lady is still like a baby, she need to rely on the walker to walk, she is only the size of a 4 months old baby. The parent and the sister (2 elder and 1 younger) have take care of her for the past 16 years. The recent week has showed a baby with 2 faces – Baby Laili, who was born in a lowest class in India. She has not survived. But it may be a good thing to her parent.
Watching all these unfortunate cases that happened on the parent, I feel sad for them and I thanks god for giving me a healthy baby. I remembered when I first watched the show on the Triplet, I can’t sleep and tears flowed down from my face when looked at my own child. On the other hand, I feel happy for these children for having parents and family members who love them and have not give up on them. They are fortunate in another way.
Fortunate or unfortunate, this is a choice of yours.
